Test Day Expectations

Be Prepared to Take Your CLT Assessment

Nobody wants the frustration or stress of technical issues on test day. Follow our guidance here to make sure you are ready to take your exam.

Test Day Requirements: CLT

Whether you are taking the CLT in school or at home, here is what you need the day of the test.

Testing Remotely? Students testing from home will take the remotely proctored version of the test, and additional requirements will apply. Read our guide to remote proctoring for device setup and instructions.

The CLT is administered online.* All students accessing the test must have:

  • A laptop or desktop computer. For non-remotely proctored tests, tablets are also compatible. Phones are not permitted.
  • A stable internet connection
  • Chrome or Firefox browsers. For non-remotely proctored tests, Safari is compatible as well.

*Some schools choose to administer the CLT on paper.

Test Day Requirements: CLT10 or CLT8

Students taking the test at home will need a proctor (an adult 21 or older who is able to supervise and assist with instructions and timekeeping). Please note that this is different from the remotely proctored CLT.

The CLT10 and CLT8 are administered online.* All testers must have:

  • A laptop, desktop, or tablet (sorry, no phones)
  • A stable internet connection
  • Chrome, Firefox, or Safari browsers

*Some schools choose to administer the CLT10 and CLT8 on paper.

Nor ought we to believe that there is much difference between man and man, but to think that the superiority lies with him who is reared in the severest school.
