CLT is Making Headlines in Texas

Under the leadership of Chair Stacy Hock, Vice Chair Welcome Wilson, and Commissioner Wynn Rosser, a July 22 vote by THECB has determined that Texas public colleges and universities may now accept CLT scores for admission.

Texas has now joined Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, and North Carolina in recognizing the CLT for public university admissions. Students can begin submitting scores to Texas public institutions for consideration beginning August 1, 2026.

CLT for Texas Homeschool Families

While the state of Texas does not require homeschool testing, many parents choose to assess their students annually using nationally normed achievement tests.

Testimonials

Dr. Tamara Long

Abilene Christian University

“Some of Abilene Christian’s best students have come to us through the Classic Learning Test.”

Eric DeVries

Hill Country Christian School (Cedar Park, Texas)

“The first thing that actually sold me on CLT was the simplicity of the back-end ability to analyze the data. The second thing that I’ve come to appreciate even more is that it’s more in alignment with what we’re already doing. And the third thing was a timing thing. We had to take a whole week off of school basically to administer our other tests, and you can do the CLT in two hours.”

The Donham Family

Pipe Creek, Texas

“The CLT has been a tool for us that has helped us measure how well we are educating our children while still integrating our faith into what they’re learning. And then given confidence and assurance that what we’re doing is right while also getting some feedback on how we can even make it better.”
