CLT for Arkansas Homeschool Families
While Arkansas does not have a homeschool testing requirement, many families choose to assess their students annually using nationally normed achievement tests, including the CLT suite of assessments.
Thousands of homeschool families choose CLT for many reasons, including:
- Remotely proctored, at home testing (parent proctored for CLT3-8)
- In depth analytics reports
- Meaningful, engaging content
- Personal and friendly customer service
How to Use CLT for your Arkansas Education Freedom Account
Overview: Provides students with up to 90% of their assigned state education funding for private school tuition or other educational expenses including testing fees for the CLT suite of assessments. Eligible families can receive up to $6864 total; $1716 quarterly in an ESA.
Accountability: ESA students attending a private school must be administered a nationally norm-referenced test approved by the ADE (linked here) on an annual basis and provide aggregated student testing results for state reporting. The CLT suite of assessments is approved to fulfill this requirement.
Homeschool: Homeschool students receiving EFA funds are required to take a national, norm-referenced test each year. You can find a list of ADE-approved test options here. The CLT suite of assessments is approved to fulfill this requirement.
Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship
The Classic Learning Test (CLT) is a college admissions exam now accepted for admission at all Arkansas state universities. With a score of at least 58 out of 120, students can qualify for the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship.
11th-grade public school students in Arkansas now have the option to take the CLT for free, instead of the SAT or ACT. Parents/students will be given a survey at the beginning of the school year to make their exam selection. Contact your school’s college counseling office with any questions.

Testimonials
Joy A.
Homeschool Mom
“My daughter is usually really stressed when it comes to this kind of testing. CLT made it super easy for her! She was able to take it at home and with no stress or anxiety! CLT made it super easy all around, making sure I had all the info I needed before proctoring the exam. I am so excited that I found out about you!”
Josh O.
CLT Test Taker
“It was helpful for me to keep in mind that CLT designs its exams to assess our knowledge, not our test-taking skills. This helped me not waste time overthinking an answer or worry about getting “tricked” by the question’s wording. Instead, I was able to focus my time on working carefully and even double-checking my work with any extra time I had.”
Nick D.
Head of School
“The CLT has been a breath of fresh air for our school. It is comforting to know we use a standardized test that reinforces the virtue and concepts of truth, goodness, and beauty we strive to teach in the classroom”
